Love all of this!! Took my first solo international trip last year, and about to go on my second solo international trip next week!!ššš Cannot wait for all that Iām going to experience and learn and see as a result of doing the scary but exciting thing! š
I went to Dublin last year and fell in LOVE with Ireland, and am going back again this time in roadtrip form (solo, eeeek!) to do Galway, Lisdoonvarna (((planned my trip around going to the matchmaking festival and I cannot wait šš))) and ending back in Dublin! My next international trip will be not Ireland 3x in a row, I swear š even though a piece of my heart will always be there āļø
omg can you please write us a piece about the matchmaking festival when you get back!? this sounds incredible!! Ireland is one of the most breathtaking countries (I roadtripped with my mom/sisters a few years ago and LOVED it). Have the best time!!
"What did traveling alone for the first time bring up for you?" - A taste of freedom. May 2017, I went to visit one of my BFFs in SLC for his birthday. I was contemplating divorce and just wanted to spend time with my BFF by myself. I felt guilty about that, conveniently forgetting all the times my hubby ditched me to go on "beercations" with his co-workers. I got divorced the following year.
In June 2023, I traveled solo to Vegas for 4 days to celebrate 52 years around the sun. At first, it was going to be a Girls' Road Trip, and I was thinking of who to invite. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to go alone. I didn't want to walk the Strip. I don't drink and I don't gamble. And if I got tired before everyone else in the group, I wanted to be able to go to bed without being guilted into staying up. Or being woken up when the person I shared a room with came in late.
And it was the most relaxing, fun, and freeing vacation I'd ever had. For an Introverted Empath. And that's saying something because, y'know, it's VEGAS!! I wrote all about it here: https://literallyororo.substack.com/p/when-self-care-literally-involves. I now want to do it again, but maybe trying one of those female group trips first.
I loved this read, thank you! Heading off on my first ever solo travel next year for a writerās retreat and this has not only comforted me, but also clarified that it was definitely to the right to do booking it xx

Solo travel is essential for me! I need to do at least one trip a year (in my country or internationally) by myself to reset.
Ooh I love this, which destinations are your go-tos?
Thank you!!! This made my day. xx
